Role: Technical Project Manager, Wireless Embedded Devices

Rate: £450-500 per day

Location of Office: Bradford, West Yorkshire

Location of Work: 4 day week, 3 day’s onsite, 1 from home

Contract Length: 6 months initially

IR35 Status: Outside of IR35

Start Date: ASAP

The Project:

An embedded systems company who specialise in the design and manufacture of a wide range of IoT devices require a Technical Project Manager.

You will be responsible for managing the development of products from concept through to mass production. As such you should demonstrate experience managing new product developments, ideally for products/ devices consisting of electronics and embedded software. If you have experience working on IoT connected devices or products that use low power wireless communications this would be desirable but is not essential for the role.

In this role you be managing a talented multidiscipline R&D team consisting of Electronic Design Engineers, Embedded Software Engineers, Mechanical Design Engineers and Test Engineers.

The role will include the management of both internal and external resource. This role requires managing a portfolio of often related projects, each of which may have its own unique requirements.

The projects you be managing will be a mixture of new product developments, as well as enhancing existing products with new features and technology.

As well as managing and driving forward multiple product developments, this role offers you the opportunity to define the future product roadmaps and strategies.

  • Plan and implement projects
  • Help define project scope, goals and deliverables within projects
  • Define tasks and required resources
  • Collect and manage project teams
  • Manage budgets
  • Allocate project resources
  • Create schedule and project timelines
  • Track deliverables
  • Support and direct teams
  • Lead quality assurance within projects
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs
  • Evaluate and assess result of project

Skills Required:

  • Proven R&D Project Manager experience
  • New Product Development experience (from concept through to manufacture)
  • Electronic/ embedded system product development experienced
  • Managed multidiscipline R&D teams consisting of Electronics, Embedded Software and Mechanical Engineers
  • Excellent communication skills and team leadership
  • Theoretical and practical project management knowledge
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Experience as a project manager
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
  • Proficiency in project management software tools

Desirable Experience:

  • IoT connected device/ Wireless product experience
