Electronic Design Engineer
Location of Office: Barnsley
Location of work: Hybrid WFH available
Salary: £45,000 – 55,000
The Role:
A successful electronics business in Barnsley, which was voted the ‘most admired company to work for in 2020’ require an Electronics Design Engineer to join their multidisciplined R&D team of twenty engineers.
The company specialises in designing control systems that saves people’s lives. The company is continuing to see revenue, profit and headcount grow year-on-year, which is testament to the products they produce and the strong customer demand. With customer queries increasing in the UK and Internationally there is a need to continually invest in new R&D, as there is a need to design new products as well as support and enhance existing products.
You should demonstrate excellent Analogue and Digital circuit design skills for embedded microcontroller/ microprocessor-based products. Although this role is predominately electronics focussed, if you can do embedded software there is the opportunity to do this if you wish.
As the products you will be designing are for safety purposes, there is a need to design to safety standards (EN and UL). Any experience designing highly reliable, and safety critical products would be advantageous, but is not essential. Skills and experience required:
- Full electronic lifecycle experience
- Analogue and Digital circuit design
- Microcontroller/ Microprocessor design (8, 16 or 32 bit)
- Communication protocol experience – Ideally RS232 and RS485
- Comfortable working individually and as part of a team
Desirable skills and experience:
- Altium design
- SMPSU design (the business design their own Power Supplies)
- Embedded C programming
- Renesas microcontroller experience
- Designed products used in Safety Critical/ Hazardous environments
