Electronic Engineer

Position: Electronic Engineer

The role: A position is now available for an Electronic Engineer to join a client in their Chesterfield based offices. Our client design, develop and manufacture a range of electronic products for the healthcare sector with a focus on sensory solutions.

Experience or knowledge of the following is required:

Lead Embedded Software Engineer

Position: Lead Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Stretham, Cambridgeshire

Salary: £60,000

A leading manufacturer in instrumentation which is used in the sensing and measurement industries for transmitters are looking to recruit an expert embedded software engineer to the team, to show the current members of the business the most modern embedded software techniques based around RTOS.

The business has in its portfolio of products the broadest range of technologies of any equivalent company in their sector, the business is part of a large group of companies which have a portfolio of measurement businesses under their umbrella. The company has been selected to be the member of the group who progress the technology and develop the skills identified internally that are becoming ever more required when applying corrections to sensors and algorithms to sensors.

The business needs to refine and bring in new skills, as they have a lack of skills withing the business for modern embedded software development techniques. As the business has such good staff retention the embedded software techniques need updating to include development of RTOS based systems. As a result the company is looking for someone who can lead and transition the team and mentor the other team members in modern embedded software techniques. There are always new processes implemented internally and the company need someone internally to champion this for embedded software. The team is currently 3 dedicated to pure software and 2 who are doing electronics / embedded software.

Currently the embedded software engineers are doing bare metal development with the strategic plan to move to RTOS, the team is currently using FreeRTOS but looking to move to more full featured operating systems and someone who has put together compact and efficient embedded systems and has strong knowledge of python would be an exceptional appointment.

The company is currently making decisions such as bringing in pre made code libraries rather than going from the ground up. The team is currently working with embedded c and may look to move towards more object orientated languages. A significant amount of new development is in the offing, the new embedded software engineer will have the capability to update refreshing core ranges and push forward new technologies which will open up new markets to the business as a result there will be a wide range of algorithm development. The company has a clear 5-10 year road map.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in new area which is, scientific and complex, and the embedded software engineer will not just be working with the software engineers but also the scientist who develop the mass and then the software team apply this to the product.
