Position- Compliance Engineer for consumer electronic products

Salary- up to £55,000

Location of client- Leeds city centre

Location of work- You can perform this role remotely or in the office

The role-

A growing electronics business in Leeds who design and manufacture their own products, as well as sell third party manufactured products require a Compliance Engineer to join their expanding team. In this role you will take ownership for all compliance related tasks for their electronic products.

The types of products you will be responsible for ensuring meet compliance and regulatory standards will be set top boxes, smart televisions, wifi equipment, routers, 4G mesh networks and devices used in retail.

To be suitable for this role you should be passionate about ensuring electronic devices meet and comply with international standards such as REACH, RoHS, CE, UK-CA, and that all necessary documentation and declaration of conformities (DoC’s) are in place.

Due to incoming changes to existing standards this will mean updating documentation and DoC’s to ensure the products comply to the latest standards. An example are changes being made to WiFi and IoT security standards.

This role will give you opportunity to take a lot of responsibility within a successful and growing business, where you will work with a variety of stakeholders internally and externally. Skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of standards for electronic products e.g. CE, UK CA, REACH, RoHS, ECHA, SCIP, CSR
  • Ensuring compliance reports are reviewed, validated, and filed correctly.
  • Generating and storing Declarations of Conformity (DoC)
  • Understanding legal requirements and translating them into practical procedures to adhere to industry standards
  • Being proactive about compliance changes
  • Excellent written and oral communication

 

Technical Author – Software

Role: Technical Author for a Software AI Control System

Rate: up to £50 per hour, inside IR35

Location of work: Fully Remote

Contract length: 6 months initially, with opportunity to extend

The Role: 

A leading software business who are pushing the edge with the revolution of AI are looking for an exceptional and self-motivated Technical Author to pull together all the information required to deliver a complex user manual. The Technical Author will need the ability to produce exceptional content, be from a technical background but most importantly be able to be bullish in their approach to obtaining information from a group that consists of 10 teams.

The content that needs to be written will not be provided to the individual on a plate and if the Technical Author cannot find the information required to create the content, the Technical Author will need to be able to fight the battle to gain the information. The release of the software is due in 2024 and as a result the teams will be focussed on delivery and obtaining the content and information will be a challenge, the Technical Author must be prepared to “ruffle feathers” speak with multiple stake holders, be happy not to hide behind team leaders and grasp all the key decision makers and pull the content together.

The Technical Author will be from a technical background and be able to work with teams located throughout Europe, we are not looking for a content writer, we are looking for an experienced Technical Author who is able to dig deep into technical minds and technical teams and create documentation in an environment that when the pressure is on for release date, could be frantic. The information will then be written into exceptional prose.

The best way to view this role is understanding 3 elements of technical authoring which are technical skills, writing skills and business skills, all 3 are needed combined with the diplomacy of working with those who do not necessarily want, or feel the need to provide the information needed to produce an exceptional technical document.

C++ Software Engineer

Position: C++ Software Engineer

The ideal Software Engineer will be strong programming with both C++ and Python and ideally be comfortable in both windows and Linux environments.

The successful Electronics Software Engineer will be joining a small design team with the chance to contribute to the development of a new range of products within the industrial testing equipment sector.

You will be expected to contribute towards the full design life cycle of a new product range whilst also maintaining existing products. You will take part in design meetings and work closely with other engineers with your role including concept design, embedded software programming, PCB design, circuit design, debugging hardware and in house testing.
