The Role: KO2 are now working with an industry leading client in the Northeast who are now expanding their engineering team due to customer demand and are looking for an experienced Electronic Design Engineer to join them. They offer the chance to work from home twice a week and the opportunity to work on the development of a brand-new range of products.

The successful Electronic Design Engineer will get the chance to work throughout the full development life cycle on new products and can expect to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of like-minded engineers.

Keys Skills and Experience Required:

  • Mixed signal circuit design
  • Multilayer PCB Design and layout
  • Schematic capture
  • Serial protocols: RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, RS485 etc

As an experienced member of the team, you will be expected to work well on individual projects and be able to manage your time efficiently. You can expect tasks to include designing, developing, testing, documenting and installing new electronics solutions.

Desirable skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree qualification
  • Experience developing control based electronics

Their office is based just South of Newcastle and they offer hybrid working, with 2 days a week working from home available making this role easily commutable by large parts of the Northeast including Durham, Sunderland and North of Newcastle to name a few areas.

Embedded Software Engineer

Position: Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £60,000

Our client, a leader in their field is now seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their team to work towards the development of a new generation of handheld devices and auxiliary products that will be used and sold worldwide. The ideal Embedded Software Engineer will have proven experience in bringing complete products to market, be keen to work on a range of challenging development tasks and be comfortable working within a small team of like-minded engineers.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Embedded C programming
  • Matlab or Octave
  • RTOS development – FreeRTOS ideally
  • ARM cortex or NXP family processors

In this role you will get the chance to be involved in the full development cycle and can expect to be involved in a range of development tasks, from attending concept meetings, writing new code, bug fixing, documentation, in house testing and liaising with customers when required. You will be working within a small team so strong communication skills are a must, and you should also be comfortable working on individual projects and managing your own time and workload. For the right candidate there is also scope to take on a project management or team leader responsibilities including mentoring junior engineers and taking a technical lead role on projects.

The role: A new role has now been created for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our clients growing engineering team as they continue to design and develop bespoke solutions within the intelligent automation market. The products you will be developing will be improving the way we approach a variety of tasks with a focus on sustainability and lowering companies’ carbon footprints.

Skills and experience required:

  • Analogue circuit design
  • Digital circuit design
  • PCB design and layout
  • Protocols: Ethernet, CANbus, SPI, I2C etc

Working in a new product development team you will be expected to contribute throughout the product lifecycle and be given the chance to make a real impact in design and development plans.

The successful Electronics Engineer will be expected to contribute to all electronic design aspects of their products including PCB design, schematic capture, analogue and digital circuits, and some microcontroller design. You will be working closely with other electronics and software design engineers and be expecting to contribute at design meetings and to work closely within a small team.
