The client is flexible, so please apply if you can design electronics and write embedded software, albeit not at expert level, they are happy to mentor on the embedded software side.

KO2’s client are looking for an electronics led engineer who can also write embedded software in C. This is a hands-on role working across the full product lifecycle, from PCB design through to embedded bring-up and testing.

The Role

  • Electronics design from concept to production (schematics, PCB layout, bring-up)
  • Embedded software development and debugging in C (some C++ exposure useful)
  • Working with microcontrollers and embedded systems
  • Supporting testing, fault-finding and real-world deployment

The Profile

  • Strong electronics engineering background
  • Experience designing PCBs (Altium for production, KiCad also used)
  • Able to write and debug embedded C
  • Ideally 4+ years’ experience
  • Skill split typically 70/30 or 80/20 in favour of electronics, but strong 50/50 engineers also considered

This is not a pure electronics role,  solid embedded c experience is needed, at some level.

Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Software Engineer

Hybrid – One day every fortnight in Milton Keynes

KO2’s client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their R&D team. The role is hybrid, with on-site time set at one day every fortnight. There are no fixed weekly office requirements.

You’ll work on embedded software for digitally controlled power supplies, writing Embedded C for bare-metal microcontrollers. The system uses two micros: one for the PFC stage and one for the inverter and final DC stage. You’ll take ownership of one of these areas and contribute to the wider embedded software development within the team.

You’ll also work alongside a Senior Embedded Software Engineer who will provide mentoring where needed. The client is open to applicants from junior through to senior level, as long as you can demonstrate solid skills in embedded software development. Power electronics experience is not required, but you should be comfortable with basic electronics.

What you’ll work on:

• Embedded C on bare metal

• Control software for digitally managed power supplies

• One of two microcontroller stages (PFC or inverter/DC stage)

• Collaboration with an experienced senior engineer on core embedded software tasks

Skills/ Experience needed:

• Strong Embedded C skills

The Role

You will be working directly on a mature, ruggedised product range, carrying out diagnostics, test, fault-finding and hardware improvements using industry-standard tools and instrumentation. This is a workshop-focused role, supporting ongoing product reliability and performance.

With a small and focused R&D team, they are now looking for an Electronics Engineer to support the ongoing improvement and maintenance of an established product range.

This role is ideal for an engineer early in their career who enjoys practical, hands-on work, troubleshooting, and getting deeply familiar with existing hardware. You will work closely with an experienced hardware engineer to understand product architecture, investigate issues, and implement hardware-related improvements. The work is varied, workshop-focused, and centres on problem solving rather than designing brand-new PCBs from scratch.

There is also potential to support a new product development programme being run from their Bristol team, depending on workload and your interests.

Role Overview

In this role, you’ll take ownership of customer return investigations, leading structured 8D problem-solving in close collaboration with the Failure Analysis (FA) team and suppliers. You’ll act as the key link between customers, internal engineering teams, and suppliers — driving transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the quality process.

Alongside customer quality, you’ll also be responsible for ensuring strong supplier performance across wafer fabrication, ASIC assembly, and test suppliers — managing issues through corrective actions, MRB/CRB activities, and supplier audits.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in a Quality Engineering role within semiconductor or automotive electronics.
  • Experience of semiconductor processes: wafer fabrication, ASIC assembly, and testing.
  • Internal auditor IATF 16949 or VDA6.3 (can be expired certificate)
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3).
  • Experience in managing strategic suppliers (manage supplier evaluation and improvement projects, PPAP’s, FMEA’s)
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and SPC methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone tools.
