Contract Mechanical Design Engineer – Solidworks / Plastic Injection Moulding

• Belfast (Hybrid)
• Up to £47 per hour, outside IR35
• 6 month contract (likely extension)

We’re recruiting for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with Solidworks experience to support an established electronics manufacturer in Belfast.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy product development team working on high volume electronic products, with a strong focus on plastic injection moulded components and associated mechanical design.

You’ll be working on a mix of 2D and 3D SolidWorks design work, supporting active development projects and helping to refine and update existing product designs.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Producing and updating Solidworks 2D engineering drawings
• Carrying out Solidworks 3D CAD modelling and design refinements
• Supporting the design and development of plastic injection moulded components
• Working closely with a small engineering team on live product development projects
• Contributing to the design of products used to house electronic PCB assemblies

Skills Required:

• Strong experience using SolidWorks
• Experience producing both 2D drawings and 3D models
• Background in designing plastic injection moulded parts
• Good understanding of GD&T / geometric tolerancing
• Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role

Desirable:

• Experience designing enclosures or housings for electronic PCBs
• Experience working on electronic or electro-mechanical products
• Background in manufacturing / product development environments

Contract Details

• Location: Belfast
• Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 to 4 days on site, 1 to 2 days remote
• Rate: Up to £47 per hour, outside IR35
• Contract Length: 6 months initially
