The Role

KO2 is now working exclusively with an innovative technology company based in the Wakefield area that is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering function with a particular focus on software services and cloud technology integration. This is a senior leadership role where you will take ownership of engineering strategy, delivery, and team development across a multidisciplinary environment, spanning electronics, mechanical, software, cloud, and connected services.

You will play a key role in driving the evolution of their electronic products by integrating modern software services, cloud technologies and app integration, enabling smarter, connected, and more scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the integration of software services and cloud technologies into electronic devices.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team (electronics, embedded, software, cloud).

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role (Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Technical Director, or similar).

• Understanding of cloud platforms, IoT architectures, and modern software development practices.
• Experience leading cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.

Role: Junior Electronics Engineer

Location: Harrogate

Salary: Up to £35,000 + Benefits

KO2’s client is a well established and growing engineering business designing and developing advanced communication systems used within the automotive sector, with a strong focus on safety critical applications. Due to winning a major new order, they are expanding their engineering team and are looking to appoint an Electronics Engineer on a permanent basis.

The role is based onsite in Harrogate five days per week and is easily commutable from Leeds, York, Wetherby etc. This is a very busy environment where you will be working on real products that are actively used within the automotive industry. In return, KO2’s client offers a salary of £30,000 to £35,000 alongside large company benefits and long term stability.

You will be involved in the full electronics design lifecycle, working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team. The work is hands on and varied, offering the chance to contribute to both new product development and existing designs as production volumes increase.

Key skills and experience for this role include experience in electronics design, covering both digital and analogue electronics, schematic capture and PCB design and development, exposure to FPGA based designs including Xilinx devices, experience or familiarity with VHDL, understanding of communication systems and signal integrity considerations, experience supporting designs through test, debug and validation, and some basic knowledge of embedded software or firmware development would be beneficial. RF Electronics Engineer

Location: Bradford

Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE

KO2 is working exclusively with a technology-driven client based in Bradford who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with an experienced RF Electronics Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-performance RF designs used in cutting-edge electronic systems. The successful candidate will be joining a medium sized, multidisciplinary engineering team and join at an exciting teams as our client has several new projects due to kick off in early 2026.

The Role

As an RF Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, simulation, testing, and validation of RF circuits and subsystems operating across 6GHz to 18GHz. You’ll play a key role in taking concepts from initial architecture through to production, working closely with PCB layout engineers, system engineers, and external test houses.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyse, and optimise RF circuits and subsystems including LNAs, PAs, mixers, filters, oscillators, and synthesisers
• Develop RF front-end architectures and contribute to system-level design decisions
• Perform RF simulation and modelling using industry-standard tools such as Keysight ADS, AWR Microwave Office, CST, and HFSS
• Conduct S-parameter analysis, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability
• Create and execute RF test plans, verification procedures, and acceptance testing
• Troubleshoot complex RF issues at component, PCB, and system level
• Correlate lab measurements with simulation results and drive design improvements
• Support EMC, EMI, and RF compliance, certification testing, and regulatory engagement
• Collaborate closely with PCB layout engineers on controlled impedance routing, grounding, shielding, and stack-up selection
• Integrate RF hardware into larger mixed-signal and digital systems
• Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to design and architecture reviews

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong theoretical grounding in electromagnetics, RF propagation, transmission line theory, and impedance matching
• Proven experience designing RF circuits across microwave frequency bands (1GHz–18GHz)
• In-depth knowledge of linearity, noise figure, phase noise, intermodulation, and spectral purity
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators, power meters, and noise figure analysers
• Skilled in designing transmit RF chains
• RF PCB layout knowledge including controlled impedance routing, grounding strategies, shielding, and isolation
• Experience with multilayer PCB stack-ups and substrates such as FR-4 and Rogers
• Familiarity with wireless standards such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth
• Working knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for RF analysis and test automation
• Structured approach to documentation, version control, and reporting

Electronics Technician  

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Location: Barnsley

A leading innovator within the safety critical electronics device sector, are seeking an Electronics Technician to join their engineering team in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician with a passion for electronics to support the design, testing, and validation of cutting-edge electronic systems. Due to the nature of work, you will be based onsite in Barnsley, although the business operates flexible hours with core times being 9.30am – 4pm.

As an Electronics Technician you will play a key role in their development process, working closely with engineers to build, test, and modify prototype systems. You will be involved in assembling test rigs, performing functional and environmental tests, and supporting equipment setup for compliance testing. Key Responsibilities:

• Build, wire, and modify test rigs based on engineering design briefs
• Solder and modify PCB boards, including troubleshooting and adjusting
