Contract Space Systems Engineer – Robotics
Contract Length: 6 months initially
Location: Luxembourg – On site
Rate: Up to €93.50 per hour

We are recruiting on behalf of a space technology company based in Luxembourg for an experienced Space Systems Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial six month contract. This role carries a strong possibility of extending or transitioning into a permanent position as new programmes come online.
The successful candidate will be embedded within the systems engineering team, supporting two active robotic space programmes across different stages of their lifecycle – one approaching final verification and testing, one at the early requirements definition phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements capture, validation and traceability management across all programme phases
- Development and review of test plans and procedures in line with ECSS standards
- System architecture definition, including CONOPS and technical trade-off analysis
- System verification and validation oversight
- Technical risk identification, mitigation, and resolution throughout the project lifecycle
- Primary technical interface between engineering teams and customers
- Comprehensive programme documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in space systems engineering – candidates without direct space sector experience will not be considered
- Full V lifecycle systems engineering experience, Phase A through to E
- Strong working knowledge of ECSS standards and systems engineering processes
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORS
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
Desirable Skills
- Robotics or mechanisms engineering knowledge (actuators, motion control systems)
- Experience with Jama, SolidWorks, or Altium
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (SysML)
- Python or C/C++ programming
- Knowledge of Lean Design and Manufacturing
Additional Information
This is an on site position based in Luxembourg. The client operates an international team and is open to candidates outside Luxembourg who are willing to relocate or commute weekly for the duration of the contract.
