LOCATION OF WORK: This role can be worked fully remotely
RATE: £35-45 per hour
CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 months initially
An electronics business requires a Technical Buyer to join its team for an initial 6-month contract which is likely to extend. This role can be performed remotely with the occasional visit to site (only when the task work can’t be performed remotely).
The business has developed a handheld electronic device which is at prototype stage. The business is now wanting to take the product from prototype stage to full manufacture.
Initially the product will be manufactured in small volumes, with the intention to then grow to mass manufactured production in the next 24 months. As such you should have experience buying for low and high-volume manufacture.
In this role you will take technical product drawings and will then be responsible for sourcing and buying all the necessary materials and electronic components for the product.
For this role it is essential you can understand technical drawings of a product, and ideally have experience working on electronic products/ devices.
You will be responsible for:
- Sourcing multiple suppliers
- Negotiating on price
- Managing lead times and delivery schedules
- Filter/ triage supplier questions to reduce interruptions to the engineering team
You will be responsible for sourcing and buying the below. Experience buying for as many of the below is desirable (but not essential)
- Plastic injection moulds
- Machined components (Steel and Aluminium)
- Laser cutting
- Die Casting
- Aluminium casting
- Sheet Metal
- Electro-mechanical components e.g., Motors, Gears
- Nuts and Bolts
