Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary: Up to £55,000

Location of Office: Glasgow

A business based West of Glasgow, close to the airport, a great base for those in the Central Belt are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to the team. This role is NOT for a Mechanical Engineer who wants to work on designing aspects of a system or a product, this is NOT a 3D Cad role designing products or parts. This role is for a Mechanical Engineer who can take a view of a bigger system that ultimately ends up in a customer’s factory on the manufacturing line.

The Mechanical Engineer will be tasked with ensuring that the other 4 members of the department, who are 2 Mechanical Engineers and 2 Software Engineers are working on the appropriate part of the system to ensure full integration.

The role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to ensure that the system ultimately fits together and is in a position to be used in a customers facility, and that the “building blocks” are in a potion to fit together and protype. The business is at a stage where they are really embracing industry 4.0 and IoT to ensure their products are compatible to the new world of work, and the Mechanical Engineer can take a lead in ensuring this evolution can take place.

The role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to focus on higher level concepts and soft management of the 4 other engineers within the department, ensuring smooth and simple mass customisation techniques are used and how it can be ensured all the elements of the design process fit together.
