Position: Principal Mechanical Engineer

Location: Hybrid (3 days in the office)

Salary: £75,000 – £85,000

Their front-end engineering team plays a critical role in taking products from a blank sheet of paper to the prototype and production phases. With 85 talented professionals, including a dedicated team of 15 engineers, they partner with leading companies to deliver cutting-edge solutions in various sectors, including autonomous vehicles, agritech, and interactive robotics.

Role Overview: The business is seeking a dynamic Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the Engineering Manager and help lead the consultancy team. This is a pivotal role for the business, the Principal Mechanical Engineer will be acting as the right-hand person to the Engineering Manager. You will be at the forefront of interfacing with clients, running projects, and delivering innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment. This is much more than just a hands-on Mechanical Design role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to provide strategic direction and leadership.
  • Lead multidisciplinary product development teams, driving projects from concept through to the production stage.
  • Interface directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver creative engineering solutions.
  • Identify risks and critical paths, ensuring project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and growth.
  • Manage projects ranging from small, complex assignments to large strategic initiatives.
  • Design prototypes using 3D CAD
