LOCATION: Due to Covid you will be working remotely until things return to normal. There will then be a mixture of onsite in York and remote working.
A York based business with a global sales platform, proud to be designing, developing and manufacturing in the UK require a Junior Mechatronics Engineer to join their new product development team.
You will be working on the development of new products alongside experienced engineers who will be able to provide mentoring and guidance whilst working from concept to prototype stage and then full manufacture. In this role you will have the opportunity to work closely with customers to define requirements which will enable new features and modifications to be defined and then implemented.
In this role you will be working closely with engineers from a range of technical disciplines including Embedded Software, Electronics Engineers and Mechanical Design Engineers. You will be working within the full product life cycle, from initial concepts and technology demonstrators, through to the detailed design stages and into manufacture including the detailed design and validation of electro-mechanical products
The electronic products you will typically design will be microcontroller-based modules (Atmel AVR, SAM C21, E51), which incorporate analogue electronics and data buses (CAN, RS485 and USB) whilst the ability to work on PCB layout design with CAD tools is desirable along with experience of mechanical design of assemblies and enclosures with CAD tools such as Solid Works.
As the products you will be designing will be sold globally, experience designing products for EMC, CE and UL would be highly desirable. This is an opportunity to work in small sized R&D team, working on the full lifecycle development of various products. For someone who likes to keep designing new products, you will be fulfilled.
As this is a Junior role some of the below skills are required, or a knowledge of, you are not expected to be skilled in every area.
- Knowledge of Microcontrollers (Atmel AVR, SAM C21, E51)
- Analogue and Digital design
- Knowledge of PCB Layout
- Knowledge of Mechanical Design
- Design to EMC standard (CE and UL)
- Serial Communication protocol experience eg CAN, RS232, RS485, USB
- Passion for electronics, mechanical and technology
