An embedded systems business who specialises in developing satellite communication systems for a number of interesting and varied industry sectors requires a Senior Embedded Software Engineer/ Architect with Linux experience to join its expanding development team.
With the business (which has offices globally) deciding to focus it’s R&D development activities out of the UK, it makes it a very exciting time to join the company as there is lots of new R&D project work on offer.
The satellite sector has made a lot of newspaper headlines in the past few months, as the likes of Elon Musk is heavily investing in satellite a technology. The industry is going through a huge transformation, as things move away from a small numbers of simple ‘bent pipe’ satellites in geostationary orbits, to thousands of smart, networked satellites in low to medium orbits, with the satellites processing data on board.
With the business developing next generation satellite modems (targeted at applications in satellite payload and ground systems using cloud-based hubs and gateways), you will be responsible for the development of a subsystem which is part of a larger embedded system.
This will mean developing software applications in embedded C and C++ on Linux for use in new generation ‘on board processing’ satellite systems. This will enable features such as software defined radio (SDR), SoC modems and server/cloud-based network management systems.
If you would like to the chance to work in an expanding UK team, at the forefront of technology, and within an industry sector which is set to rapidly grow in the next few years, then this is a fabulous opportunity.

- Confident gathering and detailing product requirements and then developing the software architecture solutions. This will be done in your project team.
- Confident developing software applications
- Embedded C and C++
